Went ahead and converted over to version 2. works like a charm!! Only thing left to do is configure Sega Saturn. I looked at some of the other front-ends like Hyperspin and Maximus Arcade... both of them have .ini files for running Saturn games with SSF. My guess is they are also using a batch file to open up Daemon Tools or something like that as well....
Also, I was curious as to what you use for your Sega Saturn setup and if ROM Shelf has a way to detect virtual drives. I use SSF, but due to it not loading .ISO files without mounting them first, I haven't configured it within ROM Shelf.
Cool, I've got a new media Center PC on the way... should be here in a few days. I plan on doing a whole new configuration starting from scratch. I'll give version 2 a go on that PC. Suppose I want to update my other Media PC with version 2... do I have to delete everything and start over? Or can I just import certain files over from V2?
>By using a sqlite database, does that mean if a ROM isn't in the database (Say a ROM hack) that Romshelf wont recognize it?
No, the changes only affect how the list of roms and ratings is stored after it is generated. In version 1, the list of roms for each system is stored in a plain text file and then loaded into a huge number of script variables. The problem with this is that 1. reading and parsing huge text files is slow and 2. there is a bug in the torque script engine where if you have a huge number of variables it will randomly forget about some of them. Switching over to the sql database fixes both of these problems.
>Is there a way to keep ROM shelf from displaying all the clones of various games?
v2 parses the xml dump from the mame exe to remove non-working games, clones and can optionally remove games that require various custom control schemes (ie lightgun, dial, keyboard, etc). There is also a custom clone list that I made because the internal mame data is inaccurate in some cases.
I'm not too sure I want to switch to version 2... a few questions: By using a sqlite database, does that mean if a ROM isn't in the database (Say a ROM hack) that Romshelf wont recognize it? Also, I have a full-set of Mame ROMs. Is there a way to keep ROM shelf from displaying all the clones of various games? or displaying games that simply dont run?
There are no earwigs where I've live my whole life. It's too cold here. The bugs warm places have freak me out to the point of not wanting to move. I'll stick with bear, moose, and deer thanks.
I felt...I don't know, badish for Jin, but then I stopped caring because I didn't care about the crappy cut-scenes from that game and focused on wailing on zombies with my sweet Kanabo.
My strategy was to whore up the magic range attacks or distract enemies with the summoned wrymling. Magic training and ley walker tap mean basically infinite mana. Unarmed combat so I could double up on orbs and go for maximum magic power. Ley walker teleport spell lets you get the artifacts that spawn on islands, which can then be cashed in for experience via archaeology. Archaeology + Perception to avoid traps, especially doomsday traps like thaumite nest and corruption fluid on later levels. Berserker rage to get through the first level.
Yep, she's on the Citadel. She asks you snide and insinuating (or disingenuously assertive) questions about sacrificing human lives to save the Council (or if you killed them, she has equally slimy comments on that, too). And you can once again knock her on her keester. If you didn't do it in ME1, Shepard will add: "I wish I'd done that the first time we met."
If you have Lair of the Shadow Broker, be sure to look for her in his video archives as well ;)
I play Eve off and on... I've played a little out in Nullsec and it can be fun if you have the right fleet next to you. It's not all bad, but it can be time consuming
>Is that just what Shepard wears while working for Cerberus?
In ME1 you can't customize your armor, so I drew one of the standard models. The ME2 armor is what I've been drawing Shepard in, based on my own armor from the game. The ME3 panel is based on promotional on the promotional artwork http://media.pcgamer.com/files/2011/08/Mass-Effect-3-the-real-female-shepard.jpg
Optional caption: "I'm tired of your obfuscatory circumlocutions/blasphemous prevarications/didactic intimations."
And thank God you're back to doing these. I was browsing DA and recognized the purple armor to my happy surprise. Is that just what Shepard wears while working for Cerberus?
Age Of Time should get her last version. Where you can host and join servers again. That would be awesome.

>can i run PC games from this bad boy? Yes. Configure the windows system like so:
- Launch Command: [ROMFILE] - Rom directory: C:\Games (or wherever) - Rom Extensions: exe - Make sure "Include Subdirectories" is checked
The display name of the each game will be the name of the subfolder it is in. This is one of the main things I use it for so it should work. I actually rewrote the rom list functions to use a sqlite database and it's a lot better so I should probably upload a new version.
ROM Shelf is great! Been running it on my media center PC now for awhile. Just wondering though, can i run PC games from this bad boy? I every time I try, it ignores my .exe file saying it's a "crap ROM" ?? Any idea as to what I'm doing wrong? I setup all the other emulators and such just fine... but I can't get PC based games to load. Also, do you plan on updating ROM Shelf? I have some ideas as well. It seems not many people know about this yet either, I can make some posts and send some more traffic your way. It's really a good front-end, and easy to set up compared to others I've messed with.
"To go somewhere you click once and wait for minutes. To mine something you click once and wait for minutes. To shoot someone you click once and wait for minutes. You can play other games while playing this game."
I haven't played EVE for about 3 years now, but unless it has changed dramatically after that, I think you are playing EVE wrong. AKA carebearing in empire "safe"space. EVE is (or at least was) all about pvp, in multiple layers. There is no way you can PvP just by pressing one button and waiting. You will need to follow several intel channels and your voice comms from your scouts, commander or roaming team, depending on your role in your fleet and fleet composition. Those that do not pay attention will end up losing their ships much more often than others.
I bet these people had an unsatisfying experience with their hobby, but you can clearly see that now that they are connected to a community, it is a lot more rewarding and interesting to them. They are making punching themselves in the dick fun.
I can absolutely understand being frustrated starting out in Eve. The experience of a new player is utterly shit. I think a lot of people come in expecting to just follow a course prescribed by the game and have fun doing it. If you are crazy then you might have some fun for a week or so. The real fun requires work and the drive to say "This looks fun. I'm going to make that happen." It also requires playing with others.
I was pretty bored after about a month of playing until I joined Eve University and started flying with people I could recognize and who were willing to show me the ropes. I then moved out to zero security space (free-for-all PvP area) and joined a big alliance. It can be incredibly thrilling to fight out there. It's not all like the trailers but there are certainly moments where you feel like you're in one as you're dodging enemy fleets, blowing up someone's stuff, or mashing the warp button to save your ship you've saved up to buy.
Eve isn't for everyone but it bothers me a little bit when people say "Eve isn't fun. What are all these psychopaths doing with their time?" We're making Eve fun.
I would also add it sounds like you fell into the trap of using autopilot everywhere. The tutorial doesn't really tell you but you can manually do each jump and it will go a lot faster since you end every warp right on the jump gate instead of an agonizing 15km off.
Even with a friend "egging" me on to play it I don't think I got quite as far as you did. Too much commitment, too little fun.
Perhaps worst of all, the trailers always show enormous capital ships and huge fleet vs fleet combat but the player starts in a tiny ship and will rarely see anything close to massive combat.
This just happened to me literally like 5 minutes ago. I stay up late and surf the web but my husband goes to be early. So I use my headphones to watch videos, listen to music. All of a sudden I hear a tapping in my ear and I felt something. I slapped the headphones off my ear and the earwig was sitting just inside them, ugh!!! I'm totally grossed out now....I guess thats why they invented ear BUDS!!!
