Badspot - Romshelf is awesome. I might have missed something, but I'm wondering if the front end itself can run in full screen mode? I'd love to not see any of the windows desktop at all when I have it up and running. Is there an ini or something I can alter to make it bigger?
How do I setup relative path for a usb flash drive? I realize in theory that should work, just not sure how to accomplish it... I need some constant relative path that will work in all windows systems and if possible linux systems... I really appreciate the assistance.Thanks.
Second Posting - NOt sure if this is the same spot as the first posting I recently submitted. This front end seems awesome. I have only played with it for a a couple of hours, but looks great.
I am trying to set this up for a portable usb system and I am not seeing a way to setup the pathways for relative shortcuts or even wildcards "*". I would love any help making this work.
Hi, I am experimenting with running RomShelf from a usb drive. I would like to have everything self-contained on the flash drive for use on any PC I choose. Is there a way to setup wildcards "*" for the drive letter in the rom and emulator paths or is there any chance I could get assistance in making this happen? Thanks.
Yeah I didn't mean to refer to why *I* ban; I was just referring to how rational people are supposed to ban. I'm not actually rational so this comic doesn't apply to myself.

PS. I must ask the same thing as DinBis. Why is there no sound? Would be cool if there was a sound when scrolling through your Games :) I too have seen the sound box and it seems to do nothing. Am I missing something? Also I LOVE THIS THING!! When you find out how to use it, its a blast to play around with. Thank you!
I've been having trouble getting the emulators to show up at well, I copy paste the file folder then \zsnesw.exe but nothing shows up when I try to refresh.
also some security suites will block the scanning of folders. i had a problem with comodo security blocking my scans even though i permitted it, it still would block romshelf from scanning the dir and it would never remember the settings for mameUI i had to keep allowing it every time. wouldint even show up in the allowed applications it was just an invisible space. so if you have any security on try disabling it if you still get issues
hey matt to make it easier your roms /emulators should be in the same DIR as romself launch command is .\emulators\MAME\MAMEUI32.exe launch parameters is "[ROMFILE]" mame exe game list is .\emulators\MAME\MAMEUI32.exe rom directory is .\roms\MAME if your roms still dont show try unchecking include subdirectories.
I don't own this game that everyone is going on about but have been doing about 4 hours of research and have to say this. If you have put more hours into a game then dollars the game was a good buy ie. if you have played 5000 hours for a $20 game you have not been ripped off. What this means is you are the problem with gamers. This man poured his own time into the game and for you to harass him for something that was obviously enjoyed by you means your the bad guy.
"you are all a bunch of fucking entitled idiots, i hate all of you and wish you would die. by the way, buy my game that will never update again, only ten dollars" - Badspot

my butthurt detector is off the charts goldstein do you need some anal cream
Artists can do that because they have license to do so. Even under commission, you are entitled to do things however you want.
However, being flat-out rude and putting words into people's mouths does you no good, and even when you compare the two evils, yours is still the greater.
One more thing before I go; http://badspot.us/img/rgd-table-couple.html "I deliberately sabotaged this image by moving her hand to the front, making it look like there are some shenanigans going on under the table."
Badspot is allowed to post about being a jerk on the internet, but we are not.
Yeah, I don't know what goes on inside Badspot's head either.
OMGLMAO! could you make a comic about a rainbow alien that wants to make friends with some hot local single milfs but the ladies always scream in fear when they see his trippy second blue mouth pop out from his first green mouth?
Running the program and everything is working great, (all emulators) EXCEPT for MAME- Followed the same steps to set up my MAME emulator and roms, but when I refresh it can never find them. Any suggestions?
In the Escape Menu, under the 'Audio' tab, there is checkbox for enabling menu sounds. Does this feature work? I haven't been able to get it working. Does OpenAl have to be installed somewhere for it to work?
I'm assuming no because there is the option to pick no audio driver?
the only reason im keeping the eu version of that game is for the progress in the game i got it fixxed by removing the db of romshelf already had subfolder disabled in config but it kept checking sub folder after removing the db and letting it search again for roms it got fixxed im keeping the us version in subfolder so can swap it when my father is done with the game thx for answering tough and thx for the work you've put in this frontend
If the euro version is the only version available it should use it. Romshelf can't move files around so just double check that you're looking at the right folder. Romshelf can scan subfolders however, so don't just move the US version to a subfolder of your rom folder.
Seriously though, you should use the US version since it runs at 60hz where the Euro version will be 50hz.
last night i found this frontend and i like it so far the only problem i got atm is that i generated a snes rom list but it decided to choose mario world 2 us version my father was playing on a europe version. when i remove the us version from rom folder and regenerate in romshelf it adds the us version in rom folder again is there anyway i can make romshelf use the eu rom ?
i love reading negative "reviews" for bl on steam and laughing because badspot's already got a pile of cash from the steamsplosion of sales, not to mention he's managed to keep the game going for more than a decade
Thinking back on this video now, they are ripping on the game for all these little things. Nowadays we have the millions of indie games releasing before they are finished with the same issues, and everyone takes them for granted. Kind of sad, really. I love Blockland, but yes that was an incomplete version they played. They were being whiny for an unfinished game, but they were acknowledging it was unfinished and not totally accepting of investing in that. Now... "Yeah, I know it's incomplete, but whatever here's money." And this was FREE. D:
>I can't figure out how to open the romshelf console
Make shortcut to romshelf (if you haven't already); right click shortcut -> properties; add "-console" (without the quotes) to the "target" field right after romshelf.exe; ok; run shortcut; press ~ to open console.
>ps1, ps2 and saturn emulators won't open the games
The launch command depends entirely on what emulator you're using. You'll have to look at the docs to figure out how to load a game from the command line.
>when i exit project 64 using the exit emulator key it doesnt save my progress
The emulator exit key just kills the emulator task - just like hitting alt+F4. So anything that isn't saved already will be lost. If you've already saved to an emulated memory card before exiting, then yeah there is some config problem within project 64.
I would like to add the Sega Dreamcast to my list but I can't figure out how to open the romshelf console. I read the above instructions but have gotten nowhere. I'm running Windows vista ultimate 64 bit. also I've noticed that my ps1, ps2 and saturn emulators won't open the games. I've tried the "[ROMFILE]" parameter with no avail. All of my cartridge game emulators work like a charm. one last question, when i exit project 64 using the exit emulator key it doesnt save my progress, is this an issue with project 64?
For an online game about building this has a really hostile playerbase. Can't any of you kids get along for at least 5 minutes without lashing out against each other?
