Five Star Free Indie Games This is my personal list of free indie games that I consider to be excellent. You've probably heard of some of these This is a living document. Knytt/Knytt Stories http://nifflas.ni2.se/?page=Knytt http://nifflas.ni2.se/?page=Knytt+Stories The king of atmosphere in 2D platforming. Hero Core http://www.remar.se/daniel/herocore.php Quality exploration shooter worth playing all the way to the end - one bit color. Gotta love it. Spelunky http://spelunkyworld.com/original.html Hamster Ball http://www.raptisoft.com/index.php?game=hamsterball Jables's Adventure.. fuck, the one with good dialog http://squiddershins.com/games/jables-adventure/ Gun Girl 2 http://www.gungirl2.com/ apparently on steam now Don't let the artwork on the title screen fool you, this is a good game. EnviroBear 2000 This is the only really disposable experience on the list. The game itself is a punchline, not an in depth experience. But it runs well, has a consistent graphical style and is quite amusing the first time you play it. https://gamejolt.com/games/enviro-bear-2000/211 Cave Story Surely everyone has heard of this game by now, but since I'm way more indie than you, I played it back in 2007. I'll admit, I didn't really like the game at first because there was too much of the blahblah. But it opens up in the glass. Solid jump-and-shoot mechanics with some plot points that are the best examples of gameplay-story integration I've seen (even if the committment is a bit questionable).

The remixes appear to be making the game steadily worse.
