3D Printed Dental Pick Box

I designed a replacement case for a set of dental Picks.

Original Case
Dental Pick Zip-Case

The picks came in a cloth/plastic case that closes with a zipper.
  • The picks are held in with elastic loops which makes them annoying to remove.
  • The case is too resistant to folding which makes it difficult to close.
  • I can't tell what's inside it when it's closed.
  • The velour liner collects dust.

Key print settings:
  • Brim: Mouse Ear, 8mm
  • Infill: Gyroid, 20%
  • No supports needed
A sheet of 0.8mm PET is used as a lid, cut to 96x176mm. Note that this material is sold on Amazon as 0.04", which would be 1mm, but I guess they had a great idea for saving 20% on material costs. I cut it using a t-square and utility knife, but it was difficult so you might want to look into other cutting solutions if you build something like this. I thought about buying a guillotine cutter but everything out there seems to be chinesium junk and I didn't want to drop $300-$700 on a rotatrim for one project.

It passes the inversion test, so it's good enough. Future improvements might be to make it stackable or gridfinity compatible.
